Taking A Tangy Morning Tonic Shot Boost

On top of taking Vitamin C tablets, been immersed in making this “tonic” concoction in batches to help me with inflammation and to make me feel better about giving my immune system a boost as we are now prone to colds and coughs. To keep any symptoms away it can be drunk cold or hot but kept refrigerated once it is cooled down after making the stuff. With only three simple ingredients of lemon, ginger and turmeric which when combined give the tonic a kick that hits the back of your throat.

Ingredients

  • Juice of 1 whole lemon
  • 1 large fresh whole ginger
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder or whole root
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tbsp honey or agave syrup (optional)

Directions

Add a litre of water to pot and bring to the boil.

Pour the lemon juice to boiling water together with the pounded, chopped or blended ginger and turmeric if using the fresh one. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Add the cinnamon and honey at this point and stir. Once cool pour into bottle and refrigerate.

The batch in the top picture is made with powdered turmeric and the one below with fresh turmeric root and difference in colour is incredible. Also tried a batch without turmeric but beetroot, garlic and ginger blended with water.
