A continent as complex and beautiful as Africa is often surrounded by myths, making it difficult for people to see it objectively. A common misconception is that many view the planet’s second-largest continent, composed of 54 countries, as a single country. These types of perceptions and misconceptions are perpetuated both in the media and in pop culture a sad example of this is when Donald Trump’s description of Haiti, El Salvador and some parts of Africa as “sh*thole countries” which sparked international outrage.
A lot of times when people think of Africa they perceive it as death, disaster, disease and despair. I wanted to highlight that I as much as all that is maybe true there are other parts and sides that you do not get to always see. If the government is corrupt, you can guess whose needs come first. In Africa, poverty is rarely the result of a lack of wealth, but rather the result of an inequitable distribution of wealth. In every corner of the globe, individuals grapple with financial apprehensions and security considerations, finding common ground in shared concerns. Now, let me unveil Zambia through my lens —a nation where the resonance of tradition, culture, spirit, food, faith, and familial bonds converges in a harmonious tapestry, all articulated in the universal language of life.
