Zanzibar Culinary Adventures: Unveiling the Eating Spots I Explored

Zanzibar is dotted with plenty of affordable places to eat from hotels, restaurants, street food to exploring spots where the locals actually eat, which can all satisfy your appetite without necessarily leaving you with an empty wallet especially when you are on holiday. Here are the places where I ate and thoroughly enjoyed the food as everything was seasoned and spiced right with plenty of flavours.

Mvuvi Boutique Hotel

Located on Kiwengwa’s white sand beach, Mvuvi exudes an air of absolute peace and just a chilled vibe.  An idyllic setting where you can escape from the usual beach theatrics and immerse yourself and enjoy the view of the Indian ocean. Actually fell asleep on the hammock because there was a cool breeze from the sea. Although the food took a while to come as it was a bit busy, it was well presented and tasted good.

Zanzibella

The culinary experience was exceptional, with no room for complaints. A standout among the dishes was undeniably the lobster infused with passionfruit—a momentous star that lingers in memory.

The Rock Restaurant

Indulging in a midday lunch feast at The Rock Restaurant marked a truly unforgettable experience for me! This culinary haven, nestled against a breathtaking backdrop of the sea, effortlessly transported me into a realm of rustic charm. Every facet of the visit, from the unique journey to the delightful departure, left an indelible impression. The allure of The Rock extends beyond its culinary delights, weaving an enchanting narrative that captivates all the senses.

Lukmaan Restaurant

Lukmaan has a huge variety of local cuisines to choose from, and it is not expensive hence the place is always busy with both tourists and locals, especially at peak times because of its price point. Several items were ordered to try out, and all of them were tasty. One negative aspect about the place is that it seems chaotic at times and the stray cats really bug you but this shouldn’t deter you from dining there at least once should you get a chance. Had the best mango and passionfruit smoothie it was delicious.

Africa House

Navigating the bustling atmosphere upstairs proved quite a challenge, with the clamor making it tough to capture the attention of any waitstaff. Was relatively quiet downstairs when I went there instead but the price point was more affordable, the portion size substantial and the chilli sauce spot on.

La Base Restaurant

Nestled along the scenic coastline, this captivating eatery offers a delightful fusion of authentic Italian cuisine and locally-inspired creations.
