One thing that people in a position of power need to understand is that their words and actions have much greater consequences especially in a world with social media. With everything happening in the world today it is important to find a voice and speak up against issues that are not right because the truth of the matter is things need to change.

Whether it is changes in legislation that benefits a few, ritual killings, corruption, systematic racism, xenophobia, bias, inequality, consent, freedom of speech, conversations about diversity and inclusion there’s no going back to normal anymore especially after the pandemic nothing will be the same.

At the end of the day, we are all human first before anything else but when other races get a harsher punishment than others because of wealth or privilege or people lie with the intent of causing irreparable harm to another human being, we need to change and come to the realisation that words are weapons and false claims have sent people to prison, others to their deaths and left communities divided.

Without that video of George Floyd and countless others no one would have known. It is time for change and to hold people responsible for their own actions because we are teaching the future generation that it is acceptable to treat each other in this manner and the cycle never ends.
