As it was women’s day on 8th march this post is in honour of that. We have come a long way as women but unfortunately in this day and age, in some parts of the world a woman’s place is only in the kitchen. So, no matter where you are or what you have been told, here’s to the all women who try their hardest to be better than they were yesterday, those you spend hours working to make sure the bills are paid, those who make sure stuff that is never seen done gets done, those who deserve so much more than they get and are willing to fight for it, those holding it down even when the world seems against them and those constantly breaking barriers that keep making a difference and inspiring us all. Here are some quotes from some women whose words have inspired me to want and do better and not just to honour one day but for all time:
“We realise the importance of our voices only when we are silenced.” – Malala Yousafzai
“Never be limited by other people’s limited imagination.” – Dr Mae Jemison
“I have always believed women can do anything they set their hearts on.” – Pam Golding
“If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.” – Ellen Johnson Sirleaf
“Have a vision and passion. Be courageous, focussed and disciplined. Lastly, persist it’s definitely not easy.” – Monica Musonda
“If you look at what you have in life, you’ll always have more. If you look at what you don’t have in life, you’ll never have enough.” – Oprah Winfrey
“Take criticism seriously, but not personally. If there is truth or merit in the criticism, try to learn from it. Otherwise, let it roll right off you.” – Hillary Clinton
“I think a lot of people dream. And while they are busy dreaming, the really happy people, the really successful people, the really interesting, powerful, engaged people? Are busy doing.” – Shonda Rhimes
“We need to accept that we won’t always make the right decisions, that we’ll screw up royally sometimes – understanding that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success.” – Arianna Huffington
