Went to get my hands dirty while sipping on a cold drink at Casa Luano, a bar and restaurant with a clay cafe curated by Wildflower Ceramics. Feels like they have tapped into something many of us don’t make much time for, creativity for the sake of it. Making you think about what the final piece will come out like, the colour combinations you will use and the proportion as a matter of perspective before you pick up the paint brush. Painting your own masterpiece is a lovely way to get creative and see what comes out of it all, because it will still be called art whether it is good or bad.

As you walk in you notice the shelves displayed with all these beautifully hand painted ceramics. You then pick from a selection of blank ceramics from mugs, plates, kettles, bowls to small animal figurines just waiting for a colourful touch of personality. No rush, just you, a blank ceramic piece, you add a little more paint or too much and the gentle hum of music in the background. That’s the magic of the pottery café it invites you to slow down and make something, not for profit, not for perfection, but just because.
