Picnic at Monkey Pools

Have been looking for a good picnic spot for a while now and when my cousin mentioned Monkey Pools I had no idea what to expect. Started thinking from the name maybe monkeys in a pool being notorious and swinging from branch to branch, would they throw something at me, would I be disturbing the wildlife? So, I was pleasantly surprised when I got there as it is so serene and a cool place to just relax, picnic or barbecue, was not what I expected.

MukaMunya Housing Estate has a river that provides a magnificent water feature which is affectionately called “Monkey Pools”. The entrance to the pools is right after the estate on Seringa Drive there is a road sign which is hard to miss.

When you enter the ground you see the clubhouse, swimming pool and squash court. Can you swim at the pools themselves so If you happen to make your way there I advise that you wear comfortable shoes so that you can walk around the ‘mini forest’ and the beautiful surroundings in general. I was disappointed to not have seen any monkeys although there was one outside the main entrance, but it ran off into the bushes.
