As we entered the refurbished Afrigonia still located in Woodlands now named Mabula by Afrgonia, the first thing that struck was the harmonious blend of modern elegance and colourful charm. The ambiance whispered promises of a culinary experience that transcended the ordinary and very glad that they have kept it consistent. Soft hues and contemporary design elements created an atmosphere that was both inviting and sophisticated, setting the stage for what was to be an extraordinary lunch.

Our starter was with the star of the show for me, the crayfish. Cooked to perfection, every bite was a symphony of garlic and ginger flavours that danced on my taste buds. Next, the tenderness of the chicken livers on softly crunchy bread, coupled with a nicely seasoned jus of some kind, which was a testament to the chef’s mastery of flavour combinations. Each bite told a story of meticulous preparation and a dedication to culinary excellence that left us in awe and was worth the wait.

The presentation of each dish was not only lovely but also to pleasing the eye. The sauces of each dish complemented each other well and every element on the plate was orchestrated well. As we savoured each bite, we realised that Afrigonia had not merely refurbished its space; it had elevated the entire dining experience with some new and usual old dishes we love them for. They are now giving a symphony of flavours, a visual feast, and a dining experience that lingers in memory long after the plates are cleared.
